How pool participation fits into the network

Why pools exist

Mining makes block creation possible, but the work is often coordinated through pools. A pool distributes work, gathers results, and shares rewards so miners do not need to run that coordination alone.

What this means for people

Most people will never interact with mining directly. The useful thing to know is that pools are part of how mining participation and reward distribution are handled in practice, especially for specialised hardware.

If you want to start

Use a reward address from your Smallworld account, then follow the setup instructions at the testnet pool. If your miner is working correctly, reward payments should then start appearing in your account and payment history.
